My review:

This was an exciting suspenseful story that was unique for the more rural setting and featuring a US Forest Service Special Agent.  I also found it interesting to learn about the trafficking of archaeological artifacts and whether that had anything to do with their murder case.  They were both Christians but still struggled with either trying to live up to their heroic parent or overcome a disappointing legacy.  They both struggled to trust and not feel like they were letting people down.  I liked the twists at the end as we discovered who was behind everything.  There was some romance and it will be interesting to see where the next story goes with Terra's friend as we got to meet her in this book.  I recommend this story if you like suspense!

My review:

This was an interesting story set during a dangerous and uncertain time.  I liked learning more about what both the soldiers and their family back home went through at different times in the war.  Abby grew in wisdom and confidence as the war went on, though sometimes she still seemed immature and naive.  She also grew in her faith as she had to rely on God more when Jim went off to war.  There was some romance and some suspense.  The narrator was okay but I did have to listen at 2.25 speed as the normal speed felt too slow.  You might enjoy this if you like historical fiction.

Enjoyable! 'Bookshop By The Sea' - by Denise Hunter

My review:

This was a sweet second chance love story!  I loved the setting of the beach and the bookstore, two of my favorite things together!  The community of people she met were amazing and really rallied around her in her time of need.  I hope we get stories about some of them in the future!  Sophie and Aiden reconnected and realized their feelings never disappeared but they might just have some of the same issues as before.  I actually was pretty frustrated with Sophie as she kept doing favors for her siblings and even her dad when she was incredibly busy and even to the detriment of her health and safety and they didn't seem to care.  She definitely had some problems with boundaries.  They both were dealing with some abandonment issues because of a parent but in different ways.  They also both were people of faith but not perfect as God was still working on them.  It was fun to see a couple of old friends from Denise Hunter's previous series.  I would recommend this book if you enjoy love stories.

My review:

This was another wonderful book in the series with time travel, romance, action and the unexpected!  After experiencing the bomb drop at the end of the first book, he's still reeling at what's changed and trying to navigate his new world while determined to go back in time and fix it.  There was another fascinating cold case to solve while trying to understand what he did before that changed his future and how he can change it back.  I loved the time travel discussion, the wonderful romance and the investigation.  There's some good action, twists and turns and a big twist at the end that he's of course going to want to fix.  I loved all of the class rock references and found myself listening to them, discovering some for the first time.  This would be considered a clean read, not Christian fiction.  I had a hard time putting it down and can't wait for the next one!

My review:

This was a wonderful, humorous conclusion to an awesome series!  I loved getting to know Sophie better in this book and meeting Captain Charles Wyvern, who was used to having things a certain way while captaining his ship and projected a stern demeanor but had a dry sense of humor.  That made for many humorous situations as the two youngest orphan girls were not at all what he was used to and the middle one especially was a handful.  He also had a strong sense of honor and struggled with forgiving himself for the death of his friend.  Sophie was a wonderful character, with a strong faith and always taking care of others.  She did struggle and question God when her fiance died, as did Charles when all of his plans were thwarted.  There's some romance and some suspense.  I enjoyed seeing characters from previous books, especially her brother, Marcus, who was full of advice for Charles.  This worked as a stand-alone but I would definitely read the other books as they were completely wonderful.  I highly recommend this book!
