My review:
I have been wanting to read this book for so long and I couldn't believe it when I saw it's already been ten years! This book is incredibly encouraging, to not only read about what Piper experienced in Heaven, but also what he went through when he came back. He explains about the accident, his excruciating recovery and the pain he still lives with to this day, decades later. I really liked his honesty about the depression he was in and the difficult time he had during his recovery. He struggled with "why" did this happen and why'd he have to come back, finally realizing God had a purpose for it, which is a good reminder for us as we go through difficult times. He had a few friends who had to be tough with him and tell him some hard things, but also that they were praying for him. He shared how he's been able to minister especially to people who are going through the same type of painful recovery he went through. The stories of people who have been touched by his story were very moving. It was also interesting to read about how he had to be pushed into sharing his story because he worried people would think he was crazy! This new edition contains an update about what's been happening since the book was published. I think everyone should read this inspiring book!
