My review:
This book had such wonderful true stories of overcoming and encouragement! It was fascinating to learn about what some of these songwriters went through and how they came up with the songs that have survived so many years and been loved by so many. Some of the chapters had the full song lyrics listed and others did not. I found myself googling to hear them and watched many famous people sing them, like Rosemary Clooney or Elvis, while others featured a choir, unknown singer or just the music. This read like a devotional, with a Bible verse starting out each chapter and applications for your life along with the true story about how someone's faith helped them overcome. I also learned so much about the history of music, along with the history of our country, slavery, the Depression, etc. I highly recommend this book if you like music, hymns or stories about overcoming!
