My review:
This book takes off right from the start with a shooting and kidnapping and doesn't let up the whole way through! I loved the action and the investigation as they follow the clues to get to the truth. Aubrey is one tough woman and I loved that she fights her kidnapper and is the first one after a bad guy. She also has a strong faith in God and prays a lot throughout the book. This case is personal for her right from the start as the senator is a father figure to her but it becomes even more so and she has a lot to deal with emotionally as she helps to solve the case. This book deals a lot with forgiveness and letting go of the past. Jack is such a caring guy, a great listener and even remembers how she takes her coffee a decade later! He's also incredibly wise and they have some great conversations about justice, suffering, unfairness and God's faithfulness as they discuss the Bible and life in law enforcement. He's a protector and also brave in his job yet never told her how he felt and wonders is he's being given a second chance. There's some romance as mostly they're each wondering about their feelings before and now. I highly recommend this book if you like suspense!
