Wonderful Message and Fun, Colorful Illustrations! 'If Jesus Came To My School - by April Graney, Illustrated by Yana Kozak

About the book:

In this beautifully illustrated picture book, a young girl learns how Jesus’s love can shine at school through her compassion, kindness, and inclusion.

In this whimsical tale, a young girl imagines what it would be like if Jesus visited her school as a boy. She would show Jesus around her classroom, introduce her friends and teachers, listen to story time, and eat lunch together! But Jesus wouldn't stop at learning and sitting in class. He'd invite the lonely to join in on games and find a way to love and get along with everyone. Soon the young girl realizes that even though Jesus doesn’t attend her school, he can live through her.

I can be his hands and feet
To spread his love to all
I can share and help and give
So no one feels too small!

Through rhyming text and vibrant illustrations, children will be inspired to make a difference in their schools through their actions. Because as they treat each other right and classes become families, Jesus truly will be in their school.

My review:

This was an adorable book, from the great illustrations to the wonderful message of  treating everyone with kindness and showing Jesus's love to others.  I loved the bright colors and expressive faces of the children and there was a great range of diversity with many skin tones, hair colors, hairstyles and races.  There was also a child in a wheelchair and a few with glasses.  It was funny to find the class guinea pig on almost every page and discover what she was doing.  It was cute to picture a child showing a young Jesus her cubby and class pet, along with guiding Him as they go throughout the day.  But it was inspiring for her to realize He wouldn't just play and have fun but He would include kids and help them get along.  It's a great message for kids to realize that they can make a difference every day in how they treat people and that they're being Jesus's hands and feet when they do.  Hopefully, this would spread to others and make their school a better place!  I would highly recommend this book for 3-8 year olds!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.  I was not compensated for this review.  All opinions are my own.
