The Calling - The Inn at Eagle Hill 2 - by Suzanne Woods Fisher

Cover Art

About the book:

Bethany's restless heart is searching for answers--in life and in love
Bethany Schrock's love life has derailed, her faith hangs by a thread, and she is spending hot summer days wading through a lifetime of accumulation at the home of five elderly Amish sisters. She's not sure what she wants out of life, but she knows that she's not finding it in Stoney Ridge.

Then a new guest at the Inn at Eagle Hill ropes her into volunteering in a community project for down-and-outers. Reluctant at first, Bethany starts to feel a bit of joy and satisfaction again. But not so much that Jimmy Fisher, adorable and impossible, can woo her affections with his winks and tricks. Well, maybe a little.

When a figure from her past reenters her life, Bethany must decide: What does the past mean to her future?

Bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher delivers her trademark twists, turns, and tender romance in this delightful and exciting visit to the quiet community of Stoney Ridge.

My review-

I really enjoyed this book that continues the story of the Schrock family at their peaceful inn in the country. Bethany is a fun, feisty character and I found her interactions with different people, especially Jimmy, to be amusing.  From her work with elderly hoarders to her search for the truth about her mother, not to mention the hint of romance, her story kept my interest throughout.  I liked seeing Jimmy change and grow along with Bethany. The community project was interesting, along with one girl in particular she met.  I love her fourteen-year-old sister, Mim, who's very smart and wise beyond her years.  I really hope the next book has a lot about her!  I loved that we got multiple viewpoints so we could see how different characters were thinking and feeling. It was interesting to see how the youth pastor who was a guest at their inn viewed her relationship with God and the differences in how they approached Him.   I would love to stay at their inn and explore the countryside; it seems very peaceful and beautiful there.  I can't wait to visit again when the third book comes out this summer!

I received this book free from Revell in exchange for an honest review.
