About the book:
She'll defend her friend until the bitter end--but is she in over her head?
It's not every day you see your childhood friend and onetime crush on national news. Jackie Sellers just wishes it were under different circumstances. She can't believe that Ian Lockwood is wanted in connection with a terrorist plot, and she's determined to find him and help him clear his name. Unfortunately, she's not the only one looking for him. The FBI wants him captured. The bad guys want him dead. Ian just wants to stay alive long enough to prove his innocence and prevent a catastrophe.
Lynette Eason delivers nonstop action as Jackie and Ian travel a dangerous road--one that may lead straight to destruction.
My review:
Wow, talk about a story that doesn't let up! It's incredibly suspenseful throughout as Jackie and Ian are on the run from both the authorities and the bad guys. There's a lot of near misses, gunfights and hand-to-hand combat as they fight for their lives. The investigation is interesting, too, as they try to figure out who wants them dead and try to crack a coded email Ian saw that could explain it all. There are a few characters from the previous books here, employees of Operation Refuge, the organization started in the first book to help people in danger with nowhere to turn. It was fun to get to know more about the mysterious Ron and learn a little of his background. There's a little bit of romance. I really liked the discussions Jackie and Ian had about believing in Jesus no matter what. They both had gone through some pretty hard things before this situation and while Ian clung to Jesus, Jackie turned away. She struggled to understand why God would allow bad things to happen and I thought the author explained that well. There were some twists to the story that kept you guessing. I would highly recommend this book!
I received this book free from Revell in exchange for an honest review.
