Candle Bedtime Bible by Karen Williamson, Illustrated by Christine Tappin

This is a cute storybook with a unique concept.  Each story has a time at the beginning so you know how long it will take to read it.  There are three, five, and ten minute stories. The book starts with creation and ends with Jesus being taken into heaven.  It has colorful artwork and a nice hard cover.  I really like that it has the Scripture references so you can find the story in a regular Bible.

There is a little bit of embellishment in some of the stories, like the story of the Good Samaritan says it was getting dark when the Bible doesn't actually say that, but overall it sticks pretty close to the Bible.  It also adds in how people might have been feeling, which will help children with understanding the story and identifying with it.  I would recommend this if you read aloud to children or for a child who reads chapter books.

I received this book free from Kregel Publications in exchange for an honest review.
