Wonderful Start to a New Series! - 'Fraser' - The Minnesota Marshalls - by Susan May Warren

About the book:

Fraser Marshall is pretty sure his career as a Spec Ops fighter is over. Yes, he’s gone into private security, working for Jones, Inc, but his last gig ended with him wounded and taken captive. And those wounds just won’t heal. The last thing he wants to do is stick around his family’s winery pressing grapes. But what choices does he have?

The answer comes via a panicked phone call from his kid brother, Creed.

Help, Fraser. I’m in over my head…

Yeah he is, because he’s run away with a princess, with her bodyguard hot on the trail. And said bodyguard, Pippa Butler is going to hunt them down, no matter the cost.

Even if she has to join forces with a bossy, arrogant former American SEAL. But Pippa has her own set of lethal skills, and if Fraser gets in the way, she’ll leave him on the side of the road. Still, maybe he’s not a terrible side-kick. He is handsome, and he makes her laugh…

No, no, bad Pippa! She has no room for a man—an American—in her life. And Fraser hasn’t ever considered slowing down. Even if Pippa has him wondering if there is a different future ahead.

But there’s more to the story than a Romeo-and-Juliet runaway romance. Princess Imani has seen a murder, and the perpetrator isn’t going to let her get away. Will Fraser and Pippa find the couple first?

And if they do, can they work together to keep them safe?

It’ll be tough if their hearts get in the way…

Dive into book one of the epic, romantic, globe-trotting suspense of the Minnesota Marshalls!

My review:

Susan May Warren is one of my favorite authors and for good reason!  This was another wonderful story, full of action and intrigue and wonderful romance.  Fraser and Pippa are both trying to prove themselves and salvage their careers and are similar in a lot of ways.  I loved that they were both such strong characters.  It was interesting following their journey and then also Creed and Imani and what they were going through.  Creed was great, too, protective and honorable towards Imani.  There was also talk of faith as Fraser's trying to figure out his future and learn again to discern God's leading.  It was fun seeing past characters from Susan's books show up and I'm so excited for the next book!  I highly recommend it!

Amazing Adventure! 'Cold Light of Day' - Missing in Alaska 1 - by Elizabeth Goddard

About the book:

Police Chief Autumn Long is fighting to keep her job in the quiet Alaska town of Shadow Gap when an unexpected string of criminal activity leaves her with a wounded officer, unexplained murders, and an attack on her own father. Despite her mistrust of outsiders, she turns to Grier Brenner, a newcomer who seems to have the skills and training Autumn needs to face this threat to her community.

Grier is in Alaska for the same reason many others are--to disappear--when Chief Long enlists his help. He emerges from the shadows and proves his mettle, but his presence in her life could be a deadly trap for them both. If his secret is exposed, all will be lost. And he's not sure even Autumn could save him.

My review:

What an amazing adventure!  Not only is the setting wonderful but there's nonstop action and a long-buried secret.  I felt bad for Autumn because not only did she have challenging cases to solve but she was being undermined at every turn by a man who hadn't wanted her to get the chief job.  She also had an alcoholic father to take care of, all while falling for a man she wasn't sure she could trust.  We kept getting teased about how Grier had a secret and that he wanted to stay hidden but we don't know why.  They also both have a faith in God but obviously being tested every step of the way!  There was also sweet romance as they both feel a pull toward each other but resist.  I highly recommend this suspenseful story and can't wait for the next!

Cute and Funny! 'Meet Hate' - by Abi Sabina

About the book:

If there’s one thing I’m sure of, it's that I’ll do anything to prevent some suit from walking onto my family farm and buying it from us.

Hayes may think he can show up at our home, fling a contract in my face, and I’ll drop to my knees and thank him for saving the day, but he’s got it all wrong.

Even if it means Hayes has to spend more time on the farm, sleeping in the bedroom next to me, and almost getting a limb cut off.

When I learn that Hayes needs his job to care for his nephew, I see a different side to the grumpy businessman and understand his motives. He may be the enemy, but soon I can’t deny the chemistry that sizzles between us.

But his boss gives him an ultimatum to finalize the sale or get fired, and I make the greatest sacrifice of my life and sign the contract so he can raise his nephew right. Even if it means losing the man I love.

My review:

This was an enjoyable read, especially for the banter and funny t-shirts!  I really enjoyed spending some time on the farm and avoiding the cold weather back home.  Ellie was a great quirky character who kept saying cliches wrong, wearing funny t-shirts related to the farm and always spoke her mind, even when she didn't mean to!  I did end up liking Hayes once we got to know him but he was so uptight at first.  It was funny to see him try to help around the farm but not know what he was doing.  The banter was pretty amusing and I liked the punny jokes.  This was a clean read so some intense kisses but nothing more and no swearing.  I'd recommend it if you like romances with some humor.
